Project 1: Guilty Gear Tarot

Guilty Gear Tarot Cards

For Project one i created three tarot cards based off the video game Guilty Gear. I wanted to go for a construction paper cut out look, but I think it looks to messy and If I could I probably would go for a more precise look.
The Fool card has the character Axl Low as its main focus. Axl in the game Guilty Gear is a time traveler, but He has no control over it. The meaning of the Fool card is beginnings and the start of something new. As a time traveler Axl was perfect for this card in that he is always beginning new adventures. In the background I have clocks and an hour glass, the main color is blue.
The Devil card has a character named I-No as it's main focus. I-No is not a very nice character.
she messes with the other characters lives just for her own amusement, but sometimes the things that she begins turn out well, but most of the time not so much. The meaning of the Devil card is temptations and things that change you.
The Chariot card has a character named Dizzy as it's main focus. In the game Gears are these machines that are at war with the humans and the came centers around this tournament that will basically decided everything. Any way, Dizzy is both human and gear. A product of two different worlds. That for the most part don't like each other. Torn between these two worlds Dizzy was perfect for the Chariot card. Which means, two different paths that could be taken, usually in other cards these paths are represented by two things that are black and white. Which is why this card is completely in black and white. with some gray tones on Dizzy's body.
For all of the cards I basically drew each component of the piece then used Photoshop to put them together.
For the characters and the floating objects in each card I used colored pencil. The border is just pencil and ink, and the backgrounds are acrylic paints.
The process I used for each was the same. I would scan the images to the computer. For the Figures, use Photoshop to clean up the pencil marks, and clean up the edges with the eraser. Once each piece was to were I liked it I would move it over to the collage. Once everything was in place I used the text application and wrote what each card is on the bottom. During the critique it was brought up that the text is too small and not all are centered and the same, which I think is true, next time I will be more weary and make those changes.
